Weekly photo challenge: Refraction

Refraction

noun:
1. Physics. The change of direction of a ray of light, sound, heat, or the like, in passing obliquely from one medium into another in which its wave velocity is different.

Refraction makes me think of relationships – the change of direction that can occur when one person (a ray of light) passes through a medium (a time, place, or experience) into another in which its wave velocity is different (as when we interact authentically with another person, whose time, space, and experience is different, though concurrent, with ours, and it changes us).Do we have a deep enough appreciation for the beauty that is created when we choose to allow our own “ray of light” to pass through and genuinely experience the realm of another individual? Do we allow ourselves to be influenced by it? Are we vulnerable enough to allow others to penetrate our own realms? Do we know how radiant our light shines when we share it authentically with others?

Authenticity is one of the greatest adventures of all.
